Your Guide
to 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
What is fasting?
In short, fasting is going without food for the sole purpose of seeking God. It is denying our flesh at its most basic, and essential point, and it brings about powerful results. Jesus showed us in Matthew 6 that fasting is for ALL believers, teaching us about WHEN we fast, rather than IF we fast. In Mark 9, we see that fasting will accomplish things that would be impossible otherwise. There are some things that only fasting will achieve.
When we fast & pray, we take the time that we would ordinarily be eating, to pray & seek God.

Kinds of Fasting
There are three kinds of fasting that we recommend during our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting.
1. A Liquid Fast -- Taking 21 days and consuming no food, only water, juice, and maybe coffee.
2. 6 to 6 -- If you are new to fasting, this is what we recommend: Fasting between 6am and 6pm. This is taking two meals a day, and praying instead of eating.
3. Selective Fast -- This kind of fasting selects specific days to fast. Examples would be: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Monday-Friday, Tuesday & Thursday. However you select the days, it's taking those days to fast.
It's important to note that "fasts" defined Biblically include abstaining from food. If you would like to eliminate other things from your life during this time, as you fast from food, wonderful! Just remember: Fasting is not eating. With that said, we do not recommend fasting for pregnant and nursing women, or for children too young to be making an informed, spiritual decision to fast for themselves.
